LESS SETUP. MORE SHOWING UP.
A focus session starts with a simple decision: what deserves your attention?
Try a session above ↗Choose the apps and websites for this session. Keep your essentials close and put distractions out of reach.
Set a duration and lock in. Apps outside your focus space get blocked or hidden. A small island keeps your timer in view.
Daily goals, completed sessions, and your focus flow. A quiet record of the time you actually put in.
BUILT AROUND YOUR ATTENTION
Activity is recorded only during a lock-in. Your focus history stays on your Mac.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
Download PHANTFOCUS. Safari unzips it for you; in other browsers, double-click PHANTFOCUS.zip. Move PHANTFOCUS to your Applications folder and open it.
The first time, macOS says it can’t verify PHANTFOCUS, because it isn’t notarized by Apple yet. Close that message, then open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, click Open Anyway and enter your password. On macOS 13 and 14 you can also Control-click the app and choose Open, then Open.
When PHANTFOCUS asks, allow Accessibility: it keeps the Dock and other apps away during a lock-in. At your first lock-in, macOS also asks to let PHANTFOCUS control System Events and your browser. Allow both: that’s how it sees which app and tab are in front and blocks anything not on your list. Clicked Don’t Allow? Turn PHANTFOCUS on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility or Automation.
PHANTFOCUS looks for new versions by itself. When there’s one, an Update button appears at the top of the dashboard: click it, then Install and Relaunch. It downloads and checks the new version, then reopens. Your history and settings stay. You can also choose PHANTFOCUS → Check for Updates… at any time.
During a lock-in the update waits: click Update again after the time is up. If PHANTFOCUS can’t replace itself, for example when it runs straight from Downloads or your Mac account isn’t an administrator, it tells you. Then quit it, download the new version from this page and replace the copy in Applications.
Have version 0.1.0? That one can’t update itself yet: quit it, download PHANTFOCUS once more from this page, replace the copy in Applications and open it like the first time. Your history stays. After that, it updates itself.
Your chosen apps and websites stay available. Other apps that come to the front are blocked or hidden, depending on your blocking mode. Sessions don’t pause; if you need to end one early, hold Exit for three seconds.
PHANTFOCUS runs on macOS 13 Ventura or newer, on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. A notch is not required to use the app.
No. The preview here only demonstrates the timer and dashboard in your browser, with sample activity. Download the Mac app to use focus blocking and track your own sessions.
